GuideStar International seeks to illuminate the work of every civil society organisation (CSO) in the world.  A GuideStar system provides a highly searchable and comprehensive catalogue of reports on a country's CSOs enabling them to communicate their work effectively and easily to national and international audiences.

GSI, a charity, helps national civil society leaders establish independent GuideStars for their countries that are modeled on systems already operating in the US and the UK.  Donors, practitioners, trustees, media, researchers, service providers and policy makers rely on GuideStars to inform decisions in their work.

GSI is building a highly searchable, online network of these national GuideStars to support cross border philanthropy and services.  New GuideStars are under development in Hungary, Germany, India, The Netherlands, Ireland, South Africa, Japan and Korea.
